About Abigail

Abigail Forsyth is the co-founder of KeepCup, offering a sustainable response to the dilemma of disposable packaging that has become a global phenomenon.

After quitting her job as a lawyer in 1998, she and her brother Jamie launched Bluebag, a fresh and healthy cafe concept across the Melbourne CDB. After seeing firsthand the amount of waste take away cups created, and the unattractive and unsuitable designs of reusable cups on the market, Abigail took the bold step of designing and manufacturing a reusable cup.

After two intensive years of design and development, with some inspiration from her daughter’s sippy cup, the KeepCup was launched in June 2009.

Since then they have sold over eight million KeepCups and users have diverted billions of disposable cups from landfill. In this time approximately 5 trillion disposable cups have been made and discarded to landfill. Abigail has opened offices and warehouses in London (UK) and Los Angeles (USA) to service growing consumer demand in over 65 countries around the world, but the business has stayed loyal to its roots with KeepCup HQ based in Melbourne.

Abigail’s commitment to environmental sustainability was recognised when she was awarded the ‘Victorian Start-Up Award’ at the Telstra Australian Business Awards in 2012. Her passion for finding a creative sustainable solution has resulted in a product that is changing consumer behaviour and the way coffee drinkers think about their impact on the planet.

Abigail looks forward to sharing her business journey with you.
