Research has shown that 9 out of 10 Australians expect their superannuation and other investments to be invested responsibly and ethically but how many of us actually do this? The growth of responsible and ethical investment is one of the strongest investment trends of the post-GFC investment world.

We’ve invited some experts from FinPeak Advisers, Future Super and BetaShares to help you understand “What is Ethical and Sustainable investing?” and “How you can align your investments with your values.”

Speaker Profiles

Michael Sik (Director & Financial Adviser – FinPeak Advisers)Michael has been providing investment advice and strategy to clients for over 10 years now with a background in accounting and funds management. He’s a member of the Financial Planning Association and a registered Tax Adviser with the Tax Practitioner’s Board. Michael has been helping clients build portfolios with an ethical overlay since 2014.


Adam Verwey (Founder & Managing Director – Future Super)

Adam has a long history in ethical investment, with expertise in superannuation, ESG (environmental, social and governance) research and constructing ethical sharemarket indices. He leads the ethical investment team at Future Super and is a member of the Investment Committee. Adam is also the portfolio manager for the Thomson Reuters Australian Fossil Fuel Free Index, and a member of the Responsible Investment Committee for the Betashares Global Sustainability Leaders ETF and Betashares Australian Sustainability Leaders ETF.

Emily Flood (Ethical Investment Analyst – Future Super)

Emily is responsible for translating Future Super’s values and ethical positions into clear and pragmatic screens that shape who we invest in. She works closely with our partners to develop ethical investment products and indices and manages the shareholder engagement strategy for local and international companies. She has achieved a Research Master of Social Impact with Swinburne and UNSW and has written for social impact and philanthropy publications on strategies for funding and communicating impact.

Chris Yates (Associate Director – Adviser Business – BetaShares)

Chris is responsible for supporting the distribution of BetaShares funds to Advisers across NSW & ACT regions. Previously, Chris worked at Leveraged Equities in Distribution as a Business Development Manager and also worked for Macquarie Bank within Private Wealth as an Investment Adviser. Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Canterbury (New Zealand).
