help2read is a child literacy charity that operates through a volunteer workforce helping primary school children to develop a love of reading.
Take a nascent South African literacy project out of ‘pilot’ phase and develop a replicable model that could be rolled out across all primary schools. We needed to find and employ the team, define and establish the brand, raise funds. As we progressed the end goal came sharply into focus: if established correctly, this was a literacy model for every country in the developing world.
It’s happening. Nearly ten years later and with over 10000 literate children moving through school, help2read is 100% focused on helping illiterate children to develop a love of reading in South African primary schools. With our guidance, the organization developed quickly, empowering the local community to address illiteracy at a grassroots level. Help2read now employs 12 full-time staff, has operated in two countries and managed the progamme in over 100 schools.
