Reading into literacy for young Australians
MET Designs is a social enterprise inspired by the magic of reading and ideas. They work with emerging female artists to create clever, beautiful designs for their range of quality products.
Each design reflects their core values of beauty, play and growth. The expanding MET Designs range currently includes t-shirts, tote bags, eco-friendly jewellery, stationery and art prints.
Matthew Taylor, MET Designs’ Managing Director, is passionate about reading and education. And after learning about the ‘METamorphosis’ effect that literacy education has on children, MET quickly turned from an idea to a live social enterprise.
As a not-for-profit social enterprise, 100% of MET Designs’ profits support literacy programs, so that kids grow up with the ability to read and write. This life changing work is delivered by their charity partner the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation.
MET recently collaborated with Words With Heart to produce the Run Wilde Notebooks, see above. They’re a great place to write down your genius ideas and list of to-dos. These notebooks use recycled paper, eco inks, green electricity, no harsh printing chemicals and of course generate profit to support literacy programs.
